Today's Breakfast

Snow's in the forecast for today, and it's not even November yet. We even caved in and turned the heat on for the first time of the season. Needing something else to warm up, Amanda whipped up some blueberry scones accompanied by a hot pot of coffee. Bring on the snow, it'll make some great photo ops with so many leaves still on the trees!

October 22, 2011: BRG All-Stars vs. 3 Rivers Roller Derby

Last Saturday, the Brandywine Roller Girls All-Stars (white) traveled down I-95 for their away bout against Three Rivers Roller Derby (black). The BRG All-Stars jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back for their first inter-league, away victory. The track at this venue is way different than what I've become familiar with at the Caln Roller Rink. Whereas Caln has consistent lighting all around the track, this one had a long dark stretch reaching from turn 2 all the way through turn 3. With the tall ceilings, I had to get a little creative to utilize some bounce flash and off-camera lighting in these locations. Turns 4 through 1, however, was lit by bright fluorescents, and after bouncing off the sport-court, casted some interesting color tones on the skaters.

Come out and support the BRG All-Star at their next bout, and get your tickets here! (My photo's on the poster, too.)

October 15, 2011: Spell Razors vs. Fallen Debutantes

If you haven't seen a roller derby bout yet, you really need to. There's nothing like being within mere feet of these girls skating at break-neck speeds and smashing into each other. In the second installment of the Brandywine Roller Girls' intra-league playoffs, the Spell Razors (red) took on the Fallen Debutantes (green). Tension and excitement filled the arena as championship implications were on the line, and the Fallen Debs earned a hard-fought win. Come out to their next about against the Brass Knuckle Betties in the BRG league championship on December 17.

Family Portraits in Langhorne, PA

This past weekend we were blessed with gorgeous weather, which turned out to be perfect timing for our shoot with the Rapone family. This was a great family to work with, and their enthusiasm made for excellent photos. Kudos to them for finding such a beautiful location, and a reminder that purchasing a photo session can be a timeless gift for parents and grandparents.
